Hi Dylan - it is completely understandable that you feel a little anxious about attending school camp - you are not the first student to do this and I assure you, you will not be the last. The key to a successful school camp experience is preparation! The first thing you need to do is have a chat with a trusted teacher who will be going with you. You will probably find that they have experienced this previously and already have strategies in place to support students. There may even be another student going away who is also experiencing bedwetting, it would be great to touch base beforehand so that you can provide support to one another. Being 'discovered' by your friends is always the scariest part of going away, practice beforehand how to discretely manage your bedwetting. Sleeping bags are really useful for this. You can hide your clean DryNites at the bottom of the bag and slip these on once you have gone to bed. Some teenagers like to hide lollies here incase anyone asks about what's in the bottom of the sleeping bag. Bring lots of plastic bags that you can use in the morning to help dispose of your DryNites, ask your teacher to identify a bin where you can place these away from other students. It's also a good idea to pack an extra sleeping bag just in case you experience any leakage. There is also medication that can be taken to help stop your bedwetting while on camp, this does not work with all people and should be trialled beforehand. Ask your parents to speak with your doctor if this is something you would like to try. All the best! Regards, Dr Cathrine
